Busoga Kingdom has a long and interesting historical legend that explains the very nature and bond of the cultural institutions in Uganda.


Busoga Kingdom has a long and interesting historical legend that explains the very nature and bond of the cultural institutions in Uganda.

Although, unlike the typical monarchies in Africa, Busoga did not have central authority at the advent of the coming of the British rule, she had nevertheless developed small principalities, each with its own hereditary ruler.

Composition of Lukiiko (Parliament)

a          Has 103 Members from the Eleven hereditary counties in the Kingdom..
b          Members of Cabinet. Led by the Prime Minster
c          The Eleven Hereditary Chiefs.
d          Special Nominees by the King.
e          The Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

The Kings Charge to Members.

He charged them to;
a          Remain  United.
b          Explore ways of raising Kingdom revenue
c          Mobilize people to have incoming generating project to alleviate poverty at household levels
d          Champion development and hard work but closely with all stake holders.

Councils concerns.

Council expressed uncertainty of Governments commitment to rehabilitate the Kings Palace at Igenge at Bugembe which was vandalized by the past regimes.
Council convenes every after three months.
