Busoga Kingdom to host Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles
Busoga kingdom has started on the preparations to host Queen Elizabeth and Price Charles of England during the common wealth Heads of Government meeting slated for 2007.
This was revealed in the meeting between the organizing committee led by the Deputy speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga and the Busoga kingdom officials at its headquarters at Bugembe.
Kadaga said whatever the changes in program be, either if the two if not both would visit this natural resource endowment region of Uganda.
Among the prime spots on visitors trail include the historical Kyabazinga’s palace at Igenge, Bishop Hannington memorial shrine and the mighty Owen falls dam – a major power project ever commissioned by her majesty the Queen herself in 1954.
Others include the source of th Nile river, Bujagali falls and the historical Busoga royal tombs at Budhumbula in Kamuli district.
In a measure to beef up the preparations, the refurbishment of the Palace in already underway and upgrading of the various cultural and tourists sites.
