THE ELDERLY
Busoga Kingdom, as its cultures values and respects the role
of elders in the community. Elders are regarded as a source
of knowledge hence wealth and as a result it has put in place
a program to enable them perform their roles from a more informed
point of view verses the changing world.
One of the programs that kingdom has introduced includes
reviving community parenting. This includes promoting education
for the less advantaged children. The pilot (One year) targets
orphans, illiterate adults and the population with disabilities
such as the blind, slow learners and those with physical disabilities.
The purpose of this project is to create n enabling environment
for sustainable implementation of development in Busoga including
Universal Primary Education. The project considered the notion
that illiteracy among adults tends to fail them to appreciate
value of education because they themselves are illiterates.
The project realised that children of educated parents tend
to get education than their counterpart. So this project seeks
to enforce advocacy and interventions between central government
and community.
