THE GIRL CHILD

Busoga Kingdom advocates for positive change in culture. It discourages the cultural tendencies that discriminate the girl child from enjoying full freedom and human rights. Through the office of the Inhebantu of Busoga and with support from ACTION AID-UGANDA, the kingdom initiated a special program to promote girl child education. The program started in 2000 and since its inception a number of girls have had an opportunity to get a better future through education.

Among other successes, the program has seen the formation of several suppoprt organisation that include; Busoga Young Professionals Association, which mobilises financial and material support and offers bursaries to underprevilleged but bright girls in the kingdom and Busoga Teach A Girl Bursary Association,which provides scholarships and carrys out fundraising campaigns through music, dance and drama.
